Friends, I am sooo excited to finally reveal the selections I have chosen for our small kitchen refresh! This project is moving along a little slower than I anticipated, so in an effort to keep you up to date, I put together a mood board of my selections. Our kitchen has undergone small updates in the last twenty years, but none will compare to the facelift it’s about to receive. I have said over and over that paint is magic, and it is… but this small kitchen refresh goes beyond the paintbrush.
Simple Kitchen Refresh
When using the word simple, I am referring to the fact that this is isn’t a major kitchen renovation. We aren’t gutting the entire space, so we are keeping our existing floors, cabinetry, and appliances. The original layout will stay the same, and so will the location of our appliances. With that being said, I do believe the updates we are making will have a huge impact in the overall esthetics in our kitchen.
Countertop
I had an overwhelming response via Instagram stories a few weeks back when I shared the four samples of HanStone Quartz countertop we were trying to decide upon. I know you have all been anxiously awaiting my final choice 😉
Drum roll please….

And the winner is…. CHANTILLY!

Chantilly is second from the right 😉
Most of you were totally on board with this choice too 😉 And I really appreciate every response. All four samples were gorgeous, but Chantilly just spoke to me. It came down to how the white background in the sample matched our existing cabinets and I just like the larger gray vein.
Back Splash
I wasn’t planning on switching out the backsplash when looking into this small kitchen refresh, but that tells you how little I knew going into it. Glenn just installed the wainscoting a little over a year ago, so I wasn’t super thrilled when I learned it would need to come down in order to accommodate the new countertop. It all makes sense, and after accepting that small change, it was fun to pick something completely different. This mesh-mounted design does not have to be grouted either, which I’m happy about.

Farm Sink
My heart goes pitter patter in anticipation of my new farmhouse sink from Sinkology! I have dreamed of having a white, under-mount sink for years. Because our existing cabinets are a little over twenty years old, we ran into a few hiccups, but none that would prevent this exciting update. I’ll explain more on that in a later post, but just know, there is normally a solution for small snags that come up with any new install.

Brooks II All-In-One Fireclay Sink – 33″x18″x10″
Faucet
We actually chose an all-in-one kit from Sinkology that came with a new stainless steel faucet. The kit in it’s entirety comes with: Brooks II Fireclay Double-Bowl Apron Front Sink,; Pfister Pfirst 1-handle, pull-down kitchen faucet in Stainless Steel; Sinkology Bottom Grid in Stainless Steel; Sinkology InSinkErator-compatible Disposal Flange in Stainless Steel, Sinkology Basket Strainer Drain in Stainless Steel, Sinkology Breeze Non-Scratch Scrubber, Fireclay CareIQ Kit.
Knobs and Pulls
Just like paint, simply adding new knobs to your kitchen cabinets can make a huge impact all on their own. I ordered a few samples from D.Lawless Hardware, and they were quick on arrival, and I loved the quality! They offer FREE shipping on orders over $50, and their selection is vast!! I have always wanted cup pulls, and I chose matte black which proved to be a dynamic change. One may choose to add these as the final touch, but I jumped on switching these in immediately upon arrival. It gave me a sense of thing moving forward 😉
I’m excited to share the progress for our small kitchen refresh, and will provide more details as things begin to unfold. Hopefully I have provided some helpful sources if you are also looking into a kitchen update. Let me know if you have any questions!
See you soon!

Love your picks!! Your kitchen is already so beautiful. Can’t wait to see how it all turns out!!
I love the choices you have made but the farm sink with the divider might be an issue when you need to clean a large roasting pan. My personal preference, if I can ever get my kitchen re-done, is a farm sink with out a divider so I can fit a roasting pan. My current sink is white and it scratches really easily when I put in pans too large for the space. Just something to think about. Excited to see the final design.
Ahhh.. such a good point! I already have a divided sink, and the measurements for a single was too wide without going further with the cabinet changes. Thanks for sharing!
You have to understand your preferences. I have a farmer’s sink with a divider and love it. I’d much rather wash dishes with a divider than have it open. I never understood how to use one big sink without using a ton of water each and every time you wash. I can soak dishes on one side and rinse them on the other….something I do much more often than washing a large roasting pan.
EXACTLY!! I feel the same way!
So exciting! It’s going to be so gorgeous!! I love all of your choices!! Can’t wait to see it all finished!!
I’m so excited Shanna!
I can’t wait to see when it’s all done! Every detail that you have picked out is beautiful!
Jeanine, thank you so so much!!
