My trip to Magnolia in Waco, TX, was EPIC!! I’m not one to beat around the bush, especially when I believe in something wholeheartedly. My experience with visiting downtown Waco proved to be one I’ll treasure always. I met up with an amazing group of gals; some I had met prior to this trip, and some new, all of which are now friends for life. Whether you have previously visited Waco, TX or not, I am super excited to share my top Waco recommendations with you!
My Top Waco Recommendations
What you will NOT find in this post is a recommendation on what airline to use when planning your trip… I had nothing but trouble to and from this charming destination, so I’ll leave my complaints and utter negativity out! Luckily for me, an unexpected two day stay in Austin, Texas, turned out to be super fun. HUGE thank you to my brother and sister in law for the lovely accommodations <3
Ok, get ready to pin these amazing places to your vacation destination boards on Pinterest.
Top Place to Stay
Known for it’s iconic green door entrance, this Airbnb provides much more once inside the courtyard. A gorgeous pool and seasonal foliage await to entice you with a view of the upper lofts beyond the balcony. It was prom the weekend we visited, and it turns out this door has been a popular backdrop for years.
Art Deco is how I would describe the overall theme of Green Door Lofts. With it’s stunning exterior entrance, there was just as much rustic charm on the inside. Each loft was equipped with all the comforts of home. The bedrooms provide plenty of room, and the kitchen was grand and spacious. The location is ideal for anyone wanting to hit all the best stops while in Waco. Green Door Lofts sits along Austin Avenue, putting you within walking distance of Magnolia Market, several restaurants, shops and boutiques. I was so impressed with the layout and would definitely stay here again and again.
Top Places to Eat
Harvest on 25th Street
Next up on my top Waco recommendations is breakfast at Harvest on 25th Street. Located on 112 N. 25th Street, this restaurant should be a priority on your next trip to Magnolia. They are only open for breakfast and lunch. Trust me, their menu will have you making a repeat visit. I ordered Blueberry Sourdough Pancakes the first day, which were divine, and the Seasonal French Toast on day 2. The presentation of each item was supreme. I would have to say the Avacado Toast and Seasonal French Toast were the top favorites in our group.
One Thirty Five Prime
Fine dining in a casual atmosphere equals the perfect combo. With farm to table preparation, One Thirty Five Prime’s logo rings true – All Prime, All Fresh, All the Time! Their menu includes the finest steak and seafood with weekly chef specials. Truth – I migrate towards a chicken dish nine times out of ten instead of steak, don’t be mad at me. I ordered the Chicken Picatta and it was sooo yummy!
Brazos Bar and Bistro
Happy hour at it’s best! Brazos Bar and Bistro is located in the lobby of Hotel Indigo, and has the best comtemporary/casual atmosphere! They offer a full menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner and have seating indoors and out. Whether you begin or end your evening here, Brazos Bar and Bistro invites the perfect ambiance.
So, this evening, I stepped out of my comfort zone and ordered one of the specials, Wagyu steak. Aren’t you proud of me?
More MUST Eats!
Klassy Glass Wine Bar & Bistro – located downtown Waco, right across from Green Door Lofts.
Pie Peddlers – Fresh baked pies daily with old fashioned goodness! Buy them whole, by the slice, or mini pies!
900 Degrees Pizza – Best wood-fired pizza!
Magnolia Table – If you can stand the average two hour wait, this newly renovated restaurant serves Joanna’s favorite recipes.
Top Places to SHOP!
Magnolia Market
Even though most of everything available at Magnolia Market can be bought online, there is just something about purchasing it on site. Surprisingly, it wasn’t super crowded the day we strolled Magnolia Market. The temperature was absolutely delightful in Waco that day. I purchased a Rustic Bread Board, Pressed Flower Plaque, 2 Rowan Bud Vases, and Pink Thistle Ball Stems.
Courtney’s Boutique
Greeted with wine and cheese, we enjoyed over an hour of shopping at Courtney’s Boutique. Owner, Vicki, built her shop around faith and family and it showed inside. Courtney, her daughter, and the rest of the staff were super warm and friendly. We had so much fun trying on clothes and grabbing the latest fashion trends. Good news is they have an online shop, too!
Two pairs of sunglasses, Get it Girl t-shirt, bracelet trio, and a cute coffee mug are what jumped into my bag <3. Most of their clothing is available to purchase online, but not all their accessories, which means you just need to schedule a VISIT!
The Findery
Oh my gosh, I LOVE this shop! If you love home decor, this is a MUST while in Waco. There’s something for everyone inside The Findery. You’ll find boutique clothing and jewelry and unique home decor. It’s sister shop, The Findery ‘Marketplace’, just down the road, houses their bigger furniture pieces and lighting. I purchased gifts mostly, some of which haven’t been given yet 😉 But, seriously, you will LOVE this store.
Linen & Cake
Just a few doors down from Green Door Lofts, there is a stunning new shop called Linen & Cake, uniquely renovated by owners, Theresa and Bret. Theresa’s bubbly welcome will snag you at HELLO! This talented duo created a beautiful shop equipped with everything to make your home cozy, including their very own hand-poured candles. I purchased two wooden vases. Currently, you can only purchase their candles online, but she will be expanding her online shop soon!
Spice Village
One stop shopping is the best way I know how to describe this magnificent destination known as Spice Village. It is filled with booth after booth of something for everyone. You’ll definitely want to put this one on your list of must sees.
Site See in Style!
We had the BEST time out on the town arriving in style with Legacy Limousine of Waco. I highly recommend this service if you are touring with a large group. Our driver was super accommodating, and it was so nice to be able to share the experience all together instead of having to drive separate.
B I G shout out to Dress Barn for providing each of us with gorgeous pieces from their new spring line. I felt like I was Magnolia Market ready with both the casual and dressy clothing I chose. Be sure to check them out, I was so pleased with their selection.
Lastly, thank you to our additional sponsors, Purple Mattress, Lamps Plus, and Rugs America who made this past weekend one to remember. I’m so pleased to share my top Waco recommendations with you, and truly hope they are useful when planning your trip to Waco, TX. I cannot wait to travel here again, and will no doubt be making several repeat visits to the vendors listed! It is truly one of the most charming cities with it’s quaint streets and undeniable charm.

You make me feel like I missed out! And I can see my place in those photos. Can you see? Lol. I am living in England but given the chance, I would love to visit Waco. Round here, Waco is not a name we associate with pleasant memories but reading this has put some faith back.
I totally understand!! Wow what 10 years has done to the place… so charming now!
