Hello, and welcome old and new friends! I’m so happy you have hopped over. When September arrives, my Fall game is strong! Truth be told, I pulled out a few velvet pumpkins mid August. No shame. I haven’t gone all out yet, but I’m excited to share how I incorporated rich jewel tones into my early Fall decor.
If you have been following me for awhile, then you are already aware of my Hot Skwash Velvet Pumpkin obsession. I started growing my collection 3 years ago, and they will be cherished for years to come.
Most of everything you see will be linked at the end of this post, and a few awesome COUPON CODES! I’m excited to showcase several makers, and hope you find the resources helpful.
Move Over, Neutral
It’s a blast blogging all things home decor, and the itch to decorate for the next season creeps in earlier and earlier each year. I agree that seeing Christmas in July is somewhat un-nerving, but I’d be lying if I told you I don’t start planning out my decor that far in advance. Summer passes by all too quickly, so I begin scheming for my fall decor late spring. This year I am breaking away from neutrals, and adding rich jewel tones.
Front and center of the built-ins is my new sign from Our Kindred Home and it’s everything I imagined! With only a short conversation, they nailed my vision. They offer a wide variety of seasonal and everyday signs with so many options for color and style. Custom orders are welcome, so be sure to check them out!
I tried something new, and color organized my books. Not sure they will stay like this, but I thought it was something new and interesting for now.
Rich Jewel Tones
Blush pink has my heart. You probably already know that! So my pink chairs aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. I decided to branch out and accessorize them with some darker hues for fall and winter. I’ve always loved the color burgundy, but I chose to go a bit deeper. These wine hued, velvet pillow covers from Esnelle on Etsy inspired my theme. The color is just so rich!

Once I locked in my base color, I chose coordinating jewel tones. Wedgewood, bone, and spa are the colors in the new coastal set of Hot Skwash pumpkins I received from Love Feast Shop (see below). Sitting alongside my velvet pumpkins regulars, a stunning lineup emerged.

Our fireplace is non-functioning, so I decided a cascade of velvet pumpkins would be fitting for Fall 😉

This gorgeous Fall wreath is part of Kirkland’s Harvest collection, and I love it so much! I decided it should be displayed inside and grace the barn door tv enclosure.
This new Gather sign is from Krumpet’s Home Decor. Their white washed rustic farmhouse signs are a staple around here. I love how the font is more feminine on this sign, but still compliments the others I have sprinkled around.
Deep blues pair so well with all shades of pink, so I left this trio for fall.
Added Cozy
Last winter I wrote a post about integrating the Hygge concept, click here to read it. I plan on resuming that again this year, and creating a space where we can truly unwind. What’s better on a chilly day than surrounding yourself with all the elements of coziness? Ok, so I might be a little ahead of myself here, but in the Midwest you never know what crazy weather can show up tomorrow.
One way to incorporate cozy is by adding more and more blankets and pillows, and these chunky knit throws from She Knits Boutique fit the bill. It’s not quite time to curl up, but it will be soon. PLUS, let’s face it, this space wouldn’t look as inviting without these throws, am I right?
Side note — Does anyone else become chilly the more tired you get? I sure do, so I always make sure I have a cozy throw nearby.

Dusty Mauve Chunky Knit Throw – She Knit’s Boutique
When I figured out what my color theme was going to be this year, I envisioned the perfect, blush pink, chunky throw alongside the wine pillow covers. This dusty mauve chunky knit throw was the perfect shade paired with the pillows and still compliments the other shades of pink in the room.
I was stoked to say the least after I got my hands on these exotic Ginger stems. The flower shop in our town, Sheila’s Sunny Bloomers, had some on hand. It was fun creating this unique arrangement, and they lasted so long!! Of course, you can never go wrong with fresh eucaplyptus.
Early Fall Table
Ok, for real… are these faux blooms from Pier 1 Imports not jaw dropping?!! The dahlias were actually tucked in the back of the floral section, and I almost missed them completely!! These spectacular beauties are what started it all. I built my table decor around them, and I think it’s my favorite to date.
The amber velvet pumpkin stems are from Kirkland’s Harvest collection. It seems I chose the right color combination this year, because I found so many coordinating accessories!
Gold and blush pink is one of my favorite color groupings. These pretty gold drip pumpkins are also from Kirkland’s Fall collection, and the blush pink pumpkins are from Pier 1 Imports. I stepped up my game this year, and embraced the art of layering. Ruffled napkins adorn each plate, and these wooden napkin rings provide the perfect contrast. Just wait until you see the vintage farm scene plates! To die for.
I just love these plates, and have you noticed the table runner? It’s velvet and has the sweetest pompoms on each end.

My table is set for 2 currently, but when Thanksgiving arrives, she will be set in full wardrobe with a few more surprise accents.
Same But Different
Yes, my nightstand is smiling at you. I often think about replacing the knobs so they aren’t a distraction, but it just hasn’t happened yet 😉 Bringing a hint of fall into the bedroom was easy. I just switched out a few pillows, added a little fur, and plopped in a few more Hotskwash Velvet pumpkins.

I love mixing wood tones and metallics together. They just compliment each other so well. These gorgeous faux autumn stems are from Hobby Lobby. They have a hint of copper within the blush colored leaves.

Rounding up, I recently purchased this faux fiddle leaf fig tree from QVC and it’d been the best purchase! It was under $60 and fills in that corner perfectly. Not to mention, warms up this side of the room 😀
And this LOVE pillow from Kirklands… I was swooning immediately! It matches my velvet lumbar on the bed perfectly. I hit up their Labor Day Sale in person, and let’s just say it was a success 😉
That’s it folks, just a few cozy changes. No real pumpkins, the front porch is still decorated for summer, and I haven’t baked any pumpkin recipes yet. But sprinkling in a few velvet pumpkins accompanied by extra layers has definitely launched early Fall vibes. If I have inspired you today, I am so grateful.
