Hey friends! I hope you are doing well and enjoying these last few weeks of summer. I’ve already started pulling out my velvet pumpkins to begin planning all things warm and cozy. My mind is in constant creative motion, and I’m most at ease when I can make a change using things I already have. However, I also spend time scheming up designs by scouring new pieces from my favorite places to shop. Today, I am sharing a mood board creating a whole new bedroom design.
I’ve receive a lot of questions regarding the mood board option offered in my services, so I thought it would be helpful to provide one as an example.
New Bedroom Design
This bedroom design was created with items selected from Joss and Main. Everything listed will be linked in the table at the end of this post. If you are in the market for a whole new bedroom design, feel free to use any and all ideas featured here. I would be tickled if you did actually :D.
The Platform
Our current bedroom set is 20 years old, and in need of an update. My current heart eyes are set on having a tufted headboard. I love this neutral ruffle and cotton duvet set paired with the tufted throw and tailored euro shams! Keeping things neutral allows for a quick change in accessories without having to purchase all new bedding. Speaking of accessories, I chose a deep pop of color by choosing emerald velvet throw pillows, topped off with a set of blush. Heading into fall, I am definitely gravitating to warmer tones.
And, might I add, I never knew how pretty emerald and light pink were side by side!
Paired Pieces
Currently swooning over the white wash finish on this dresser and matching nightstands. I love the natural wood tone paired next to the neutral tufted headboard….. like I mentioned, swooning! This time when choosing the main dresser I wanted one without a mirror attached. I like to mix modern with traditional, and a mixture of metals and wood.
Instead of a bench or cedar chest, I chose a set of vanity stools. Again, keeping things neutral for easy change up. They function nicely as a place to put your shoes on everyday, a temporary spot to lay your coat/purse, or moved easily to provide assistance while keeping an item off the floor (like a laundry basket). In addition, these stools could easily be moved from room room, which also makes them good investment pieces.
Finally, I have always adored chaise lounges, and this one is divine!
How gorgeous would this be sitting off to the side of the tufted headboard?! Notice the natural wood feet too <3
Finishing Touches
Now, the fun part am I right?! My love for a good area rug has definitely grown, as well as, mixing in plants more and more. Additionally, I don’t believe one can ever have too many baskets. They provide extra storage, a decorative alternative for housing plants, and they do well in hiding chords, etc. I won’t go on and on about each accessory listed here, and I definitely don’t believe in rules when it comes to designing a space you plan on spending lots of time in. I hope you find this new bedroom design helpful. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate in reaching out in the comments.
