What are five things that come to mind when you think about the approaching holiday season? When I asked myself this same question, I honestly wrote down those exact words listed above. Immediately after writing them down, my mind filled with a few negative reminders as well.
Hustle and Bustle
Crowds
Budget
Checking the list twice, three times, four times….
Unfortunately, I am painfully aware that the holidays can also seem sad. They are meant to bring joy and hope, but they can awaken a bad memory and darker times. This past year has brought much devastation to our nation, and my prayer is that each one of you is able to find comfort in He who brings light into this fallen world.
Stay Awhile
Welcome to our cozy home, please grab a comfy spot on the sofa and settle in for part 1 of my Cozy Christmas Home Tour along side an amazing group of bloggers. I’m excited to welcome you over after touring the truly magnificent home of Mysha, Remington Avenue. Wasn’t her tree spectacular?!!
I purchased this J O Y word art from Target’s dollar spot last Christmas. This yarn wreath was also from Target’s Christmas collection, but the charm that once adorned it broke. I saw an opportunity to make a new wreath, so I spray painted J O Y blush pink and hot-glued it to the wreath 🙂

Blush vase – Ruby Jewel in Paxton, IL Mantle garland – Hobby Lobby
I kept the mantle decor super simple, and focused more on the hearth. I wanted to create a woodsy theme for my Christmas deer duo.
Shop your home for buckets, bins, urns, etc. and plop your Christmas greens inside for a little more character.
We placed these logs in our non-functioning fireplace last winter, and I still love this look. Our DIY consisted of stacking the logs instead of slicing them and gluing them to a piece of plywood, you can check out the full tutorial here.

Layer with Texture
I have always treated the top of my piano as another mantle. Even though my husband created a beautiful piece to cover our TV when it’s not being used, it’s still a challenge to decorate that space, so styling this spot is the next best thing.
There used to be a large mirror in the center, and I have to say I am liking the change up. Layering items creates visual interest, but it also does so much more!
- Disguises or distracts from something you don’t want seen
- Different textures can be incorporated
- Add an assortment of colors
- Use different shades of the same color scheme
- Create different heights

Wall color is Mink by SW
I use the same concept when it comes to styling cozier areas like the sofa.
By now you have caught a glance of my new Christmas tree from King of Christmas.

That black stripe is one of our ceiling beams 😉
Without Further Ado..
Here he is in full glory, all 9 feet of him. I am in pure awe of this Prince Flock pencil tree. Besides the fact that the tree is gorgeous in itself, assembling him was a piece of cake! I’m uncertain of the engineering involved, but we simply fit 4 pieces together and plugged it in! There was no connecting strands of lights together in the middle, they all just worked!
I’m pretty ecstatic that Christmas reds and greens compliment the color blush <3 I tried something new this year with the placement of our tree. We spend a lot of time snuggled up on the sofas, so it just seemed natural to surround ourselves with the warm glow of the Christmas tree.
I highly recommend King of Christmas for your next tree purchase. Their selection is unbeatable, and there is an enormous price range with ongoing sales. I know a few of you have already purchased one since catching a view of mine on social media, and I think you will agree that building your tree was easy peasy! Oh, and one more thing.. the flock is NOT that messy!! I think that’s what surprised me the most. King of Christmas does an amazing job with the quality in their amazing product line.
Both older girls left for college right after my new swing was installed, so I know this will be a popular spot this holiday season.

White glittered grass wreath – Krumpets Home Decor

Life is Good sign – Aimee Weaver Designs
Bringing you back full circle to one of my very favorite nooks, our small entry. Since adding the wall paper, decorating this spot for different seasons is just too fun. You can catch the blog post about this peel and stick wall here.

I will be back with part 2 of my cozy Christmas tour tomorrow, and it will be all about this year’s holiday decor in our master bedroom. There may be a part 3 and 4, lol I have lots of fun Christmas cheer to share!
