Our bedroom has always been a favorite room in our house and, recently, it moved to #1. Come on in and I’ll explain why creating a sitting area has made all the difference; and how shopping my own home first led to more possibilities.
This door leads to our bedroom from the expansion we added to the house over a decade ago. Up until a few weeks ago, you couldn’t open this door all the way because it would hit my bedside table. I was constantly barking at whoever swung open the door in a not so gentle way.
Just Move It!
Scrolling through social media and browsing a favorite catalog can often open up possibilities. With a little imagination, I am normally able to create a similar look. I have always been drawn to bedrooms showing an extra sitting area. We were able to fit a chair with the previous layout, but it made for a crammed space. After contemplating a plan of attack, I decided to give re-arranging the furniture in our bedroom a whirl. Everyone in my family knows I love a good re-arrange. You have most likely seen the view below many times, but in case you are new here, our bed used to be against this custom wood wall.
It was beautiful, don’t get me wrong. I adored having the wood wall as the backdrop, but the space as a whole just wasn’t functional. It was tight, and seemed long and narrow. If you would like to see more photos of how it looked before, click here.
I wanted the room to be utilized in its entirety. Moving the bed in front of the windows allowed for more room on either side. Not only do both nightstands fit more comfortably, there is now an enormous amount of space left over, and the beautiful wood wall is exposed <3
Enough Room For A Sitting Area
I was ecstatic with the extra room, and immediately pictured a sitting area. Even though it doesn’t always work out, I try to begin each day with a little me time. Things just go smoother if I can gather my thoughts, and make sure I have my ducks in a row before tackling a daily check list with MJ. There are several places I can spend that time each morning, but this space just screams morning coffee nook.
As I previously stated, we already had a chair in our room. It did look so much better in its new space, but I quickly realized a pair would complete the new arrangement perfectly. Now when Glenn is home we can enjoy morning coffee together.
The Search Began
Glenn was on board with the whole idea and left picking out matching furniture to me. 😀 His exact words were, “I suppose whatever you choose will be pink..?” He knows me too well. But I did give him veto power.
I did what most of us do and searched my favorite stores. All the chairs were too formal, not the right shade of pink, or too big. So, I went to the next best resource, the internet. I googled pink accent chairs and, lo and behold, the 4th image that came up was a tufted chair in the most luscious shade of pink. From Walmart!! What?! I quickly clicked on the image and researched the brand, size, and cost. The size was going to be perfect, the affordability was mind boggling, and the brand, The Novogratz, offered so much great stuff! It immediately became a favorite.
“The Girls”
I have affectionately named the twin chairs, “The Girls.” I couldn’t be happier with the aesthetic they bring to the room. There is just something about tufted furniture that gives me all the heart eyes. In this case it’s totally that vintage flair paired with pink velour. I mean, come on!
I don’t just enjoy morning coffee in this newly created sanctuary 😉 It’s the perfect spot for a night cap as well.
One Last Thing
For as affordable as these chairs are, they are so well-made! The fabric is a rich velour which is only enhanced by the diamond tuft pattern and the Victorian legs are removable. I love the size of these chairs. An ongoing issue with furniture these days is that bigger always seems to be better and it makes it difficult to properly furnish cozier spaces.
Next time you are searching for accent furniture, I highly recommend shopping The Novogratz. For the link to these exact beauties, click HERE. They have an amazing unique collection of home decor at www.shopthenovogratz.com. I hope you update me when you find your next piece! See you soon!
