Fall decorating has made an appearance all around my house, and today I am giving you a tour of my living room. I would like to extend a warm welcome to my new subscribers, and let you know I totally appreciate you!! My goal is to provide you with a fresh perspective when decorating your cozy home.
Neutral with a Touch of Blush
Yes, I have Hot Skwash velvet pumpkins in here too. I am obsessed with their quality, and pick them up just to feel their plumpness in my hands. It’s no secret I adore the color pink, but not all shades. I gravitate to lighter shades of rose gold and blush.
Velvet has my heart right now. I don’t know if it’s the soft texture, or hint of luxurious style that draws me to it more. Velvet is one of those textures you can add to any style, and it fits right in.
I have incorporated velvet with the use of pillow covers and Hot Skwash pumpkins. In addition to adding visual content, it doesn’t clutter the space.
Vignette Styling
Styling an open shelf, hutch, or mantle can present challenges. The top of my piano sometimes gives me trouble as well. I find that layering helps and creating different heights adds visual interest.
Aren’t those faux leaf branches pretty with subtle blush and copper tones? I found them last year at Hobby Lobby, and was happy when they worked with the softer colors I chose this autumn.
I kept the mantle super simple. The custom TV enclosure is definitely eye appealing in itself. You can catch that DIY here. Displaying the cotton wreath is my preference, but it’s off way more than it’s on, and I love that it doesn’t bother me!
Re-arranging a specific piece can bring new life to a particular space? That big word sign used to live over on the opposite wall in a gallery grouping. I spent a lot of time picking out that sign, and I love how it now stands out on it’s own.
Believe it or not, sometimes I really like how something is styled and don’t mess with it for a long time. This hutch has been decorated like this forever!! I just added one little pumpkin. I may have to introduce a few authentic white pumpkins. What do you think?
I added the fourth shelf back into our one and only, small, little built-in. Shopping my home took on new meaning when I had to steal books from my older 2 daughter’s rooms!
My New Favorite Corner
In conclusion, those of you who follow me on Instagram are probably tired of hearing about my newly created corner. We built this home 19 years ago, and I finally feel like this awkward spot is almost complete!
This is not just for looks 😉 I sit in the Swingasan every day. By the way, I prefer to call this a “Hanging Chair” not swing 😀 You may sway, but not swing. Swings are for outdoors. I prefer having my wall in tact! You’re thinking I just took the fun out of it aren’t you?
See that stack of books? They are old encyclopedias! These books have really helped out when my home decor has needed a boost, HA! How about that little pumpkin in the plant hanger? The only thing missing in this space is the perfect round rug.
Strawberry sundae hydrangeas are pretty much a dead giveaway when mentioning the first signs of fall, aren’t they? We have plans to rip out some overgrown shrubs and plant these beauties in their place!
In Case You Missed It!
Soon pumpkins will be in plenty at our local super markets. Do you decorate with traditional fall colors, or do you keep it more neutral? I would love to hear from you <3
If you missed my recent fall refresh in the master bedroom, you can catch that post here along with my fall tablescape here.

Everything looks beautiful, Martha! I love the velvet pumpkins, too. Maybe someday I’ll splurge on them. Can’t wait to see what you have in store for Christmas!!
Susan, thanks so much sweet lady! They are worth the splurge, believe me, but I understand it not always being the right time. Crazy to think Christmas is right around the corner!!
Martha, your home looks exactly like your blog and IG name, simple cozy charm! So warm and inviting. I could snuggle in that hanging chair with a good book and a cup of chai tea all day! And I love the deep rose color for Fall. I would’ve never rhought of that. Well done my friend!😀
Thank you sooo much for your sweet visit Ingrid. I appreciate you so much!
