About a year ago, I decided our office needed a makeover. You can check out that transformation here. The space my husband and I share was decked out in the bold colors of Fighting Illini. Neither he nor I are alumni from the University of Illinois, I just thought it would be fun and wanted to create a masculine space since my husband was the one primarily using this room daily. As the years went by, over 10 to be exact, the bright blue and orange started dragging me down. It isn’t a big room, so it seemed so dark in there.
Well, let’s just say I not only brightened the paint on the walls, but I added some feminine touches. Ok, let’s just admit that Glenn is a good sport, because 3/4 of the room is now sprinkled in pastels. He has a corner all to himself with not 1 pink accent, promise 😀 I still don’t have that corner photo worthy yet, so that will be for another post someday 😉
In a separate blog post, I shared how I painted the armoir. I never loved the shelves I picked out after re-decorating last year, but they were a quick fix at the time. Leave it to one piece of home decor to spark a fresh new inspiration.
I am excited to share with you an amazing shop on Etsy called, WoodLaneCreationsLLC. Katie and her fiance’, Norman, hand make each clock using re-purposed barn wood <3 When I saw that she recently debuted a white clock with rose gold paint, I knew instantly where to show case this piece of art.
In anticipation of this beauty, I hand picked a piece of old barn wood from my dad’s stash, already chippy, and spray painted the brackets gold.
It’s a good size area above the buffet, 60 inches to be exact, so I was a little nervous about what to style on this somewhat massive shelf. After centering the clock, I added a little bit of height on each end, and it soon came together from there. Styling open shelves can be overwhelming, I did a blog post centered around that topic, you can catch it here.
Choosing a few items to place on top of the buffet proved to be more of a challenge, because I knew I didn’t want it to be busy as to take away from the focal point, being the clock.
I am so happy with how it all turned out 🙂 I absolutely LOVE this clock. WoodLaneCreationsLLC offers a variety of designs, paint choices, and sizes. The best part is customizing it!! I chose K5 instead of our last name, because Glenn and I use this this abbreviation a lot. I even sign holiday and birthday cards “K5”.
So, here it is all together. What do you think? I have linked many of the same home decor pieces you see here.
