Hi!! So glad you are here, if you are a new friend.. welcome <3 I would love to get to know you better, so stick around, and let me know if you have any questions. I love conversation! 😉 I am so very pleased to be joining one of my favorite groups for a blog hop to bring you all some Thanksgiving table swag. 6 blog links are listed at then end, again thanks so much for your visit, we all appreciate your interest so much <3
AND a new recipe!
When you think of Thanksgiving, what is the FIRST thought that pops in your head? I am guessing a few of you may ponder, “Who’s hosting, who’s going to show up, what am I going to be asked to bring…” and so on. Do you know what pops in MY head?
Tablescape, sigh… Yep, I love to decorate a table. I don’t host Thanksgiving, and I am fine with that 🙂 I would rather travel the short distance and have someone else in charge of that massive bird. But, if you want me to take some of the stress off and decorate the table, I’m your girl 😉
Because I can’t travel to all of your homes, I put together one just for fun and have included the links to most items at the end, so you can shop the same look if your heart desires.
I even found the same crystal wine glasses! My mom brought these gorgeous wine glasses home from Ireland, but you can get them on Amazon 😀 Oh Amazon, I <3 you.
I used disposable napkins this time. I have had these for years, so I have no idea where they were originally purchased, and I feel bad, because they are so perfect for a gold and white setting but, I found some adorable replacements for you 😉
Where did the word tablescape come from anyway? I think of it as “escaping to decorate my table.” I love to decorate a table so much that it actually is a good escape if I am stressed or have nervous energy. My mind escapes to my creative happy place. Sounds so funny when actually typed out!!
I love pillows, so my house is stocked with versatile pillow covers from Porter Lane Home that I can switch out with the seasons. They add such a cozy touch.
I purchased new plates and chargers for this holiday season, and I will be carrying them over into my Christmas table as well. Can’t wait to show you soon! They are so versatile, so switching things up and creating a whole new ambiance will be easy!
If you missed my super easy tutorial on metallic pumpkins, you can visit it here. There’s still lots of time before the big day, and it’s an easy way to add some glam.
I love love love my dough bowl! It’s fun to fill, and pairing it with a few antlers and soft pumpkins creates an elegant table.
Ok, on to my recipe. Our family calls it “Cookie Pudding”, but I have also heard “Eagle Brand Pudding”.
It’s been around for a long time, and is a favorite and MUST in our family around the holidays. My god mother was known for bringing it, and since her passing, my sister has taken on the tradition. It’s sweet, but won’t take center stage as the main dessert, so it’s easy to bring as an extra to either be served with the main course, or with the dessert choices later 😉 Let me say again.. it’s sweet!
Ingredients needed:
- Vanilla wafers
- Cool Whip
- Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk
Fill pot with water to completely cover can of sweetened condensed milk, I repeat – completely cover can with water (and you may need to add water, so keep checking now and then) and bring to a slow boil/simmer for 4 hours. Remove can and let completely cool (approximately 4 hours).
This is what it should look like. I messed up the first time and stuck my can in the crock pot overnight (8-10 hrs.) oops.. and it became caramel topping, too thick. Fold in your cool whip.
You can either add your vanilla wafers now and chill, or wait to add the cookies right before you serve it. I like to garnish with a cookie too 🙂
Thank you for joining me again! As always, comments or questions welcome. I wish you all a happy and blessed Thanksgiving <3
