This past year, I have expanded my passion in home decor, and in doing so, developed a passion for items that not only look pretty, but serve a purpose. To me, those are the best purchases, am I right? Believe me, I am just as guilty as the next home decor enthusiast when it comes to seeking out beautiful things. Knowing the item has a purpose as well as being pretty is the icing on the cake! I have grown to love cutting boards. Normally my mind will focus on what is aesthetically pleasing regardless of the original purpose, but I never looked past the functionality of cutting boards until this past year when my creative eye seized onto a more meaningful avenue. It didn’t take long for me to appreciate their beauty in all shapes, sizes, and textures. And let me add, once I became attracted to them, I wanted more. There are so many gorgeous styles, but the unique ones aren’t always easy to find, so my collection is a slow growing sort 😉
What I have found is that they are loads of fun to photograph and style. I thought it would be fun to show different ways to both use and style your kitchen space with cutting boards. Displaying them in your kitchen serves both purposes in having them at your fingertips and staging them in your decor theme. Added bonus, they fit in everyday decor and every holiday!
Layering them is a no brainer, they just look cool stacked up one after the other, don’t they? I received this round board for Mother’s Day this past year, and I have to say, it’s my favorite. The only thing that would make it better is if it were half marble. I see images of them everywhere on social media, but they are hard to find!!
They make a pretty backdrop if nothing else 😉 That little board that is serving as a tray for my white pitcher was made with love by our Lexi in junior high shop class <3 I have used it so much throughout the years, because of it’s small size, and love the age it is beginning to exhibit.
I found this marbled beauty at none other than Hobby Lobby. I want my counter top to mimic this exact style… someday. It’s just so pretty, but it’s heavy too! And slippery!
I am constantly changing things up in my home decor, and in fact, I think I restyle my kitchen more than any other room. Moving things around gives a fresh look. I don’t have a huge kitchen, so I go for simple style and cutting boards provide the authentic french farmhouse theme I adore.
My mom fills my love language frequently by gifting me old items that I have grown to cherish. She has been one of my biggest supporters through this blogging journey. Maybe it’s because she is able to thin out her own stash of farmhouse collectibles 😉 The other day she asked me if I wanted a left over piece from the butcher block counter top she had installed last fall. Um…. YES!!
My mind started churning immediately at the endless possibilities this slab of wood could provide. It’s huge, but my kitchen isn’t, so I will need to be creative in my placement, and I love the challenge 😀
Centerpiece display, check!! My boss just recently found an old strawberry screen that provided height for the centerpiece on her dining table. She mentioned being able to see the centerpiece above the dining chairs, and now I have added height as well!
And again, it adds to the farmhouse style I am going for. Win, win!
Here are a few options for displaying a grouping in your kitchen that I found on Pinterest.
So, do you display cutting boards in your kitchen styling? Do you have your favorites? There are so many makers out there creating beautiful boards, the options are endless.
Thanks for visiting friends! As always, comments are welcome <3
